Security Challenges in Indo-Pacific
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Czech Republic
On 19.4 Late Night Diplomacy had another session with another remarkable guest - H.E. Hideo Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Czech Republic. The session was dedicated the the security challenges in the Indo-Pacific regions, maritime security, Japanese policy towards China and North Korea, as well as other countries, located in the South China Sea basin. H. E. Ambassador Suzuki put a great emphasis on the Japanese security policy, its naval operations and coordination with the U.S. allies, as well as the questions of possible militarization of Japan.

The followed up simulations, inspired by the dispute Spratly archipelago in the South China Sea was aimed at the development of analytical and strategic thinking during the escalation of the conflict. Our unique assignment exploited a combination of diplomacy and military strategy, which allowed our participants not only to practice and master the art of negotiations under pressure, but also to use the given military power as a leverage tool during the talks. Multi-level negotiations between 4 parties were aimed to show the complicity of national interests of several regional powers and underlined that usage of hard power is not the final solution in today's world.
